It happened to me also. I started my car and was in park. My foot was NOT on the break. I heard a click click so I looked up and my D4 light was on as well as the park light. I also noticed that the SRS light was on. I turned off the car and put the key in the shift release slot in hopes that it would somehow fix everything. Started the car again and heard the same click click. I had to drive home so I put the car in reverse, the D4 light remained on. I drove home and my car didn't seem to accelerate the way it normally would. Kinda like it wouldn't shift into the next gear. I freaked out of course and was told to take it to a auto parts shop and that they could hook it up to the diagnostic machine and tell me what was wrong. No dice on a 93 car. The clerk told me to put a paper clip in some plug and count the flashes to get the code. I didn't really understand but tried and got nothing. Maybe my paperclip didn't have enough copper in it, who knows. After tossing and turning all night I decided to put some transmission fluid in it just for kicks and giggles and it kinda helped. The D4 and SRS light didn't come on when I started it and no click click. It still seemed kinda different when I accelerated but I had to go to school. After school I drove home and my car acted like nothing ever happened. It drove like it always has, just fine. Of course I had to check the transmission fluid level again and smelled it this time like I was told to and added just a little bit more for safe sake. I hope it doesn't freak it out. I hope I don't have to get a TCU like i thought. I don't think they are very cheap.

    Good Luck,

    Dena

1993 honda accord engine service light is on and Shift drive D4

If the drive light flashes there COULD be a trans problem. The Ck Engine light and the D4 light are on for the same reason. Take it to a qualified repair shop to have it checked out. Find a shop that regularly works on HONDA and not some chain store operation.

D4 is slipping and not engaging. This means you need a transmission. you're losing a gear

D4 Light Stays on

I suspect that you have a bad Transmission control module. These were a very common problem in the early 1990's Accords. The TCM is located under the passenger floor mat next to the Engine computer. If you are comfortable doing this yourself, the rebuilt TCMs are available on Ebay very reasonably. Google "accord tcm" for more info.

1992 honda accord. The gear shift will be in D 4 But the shifting lights for Park will come on and both lights will start blinking.

The d4 light will blink when there are codes in the tcu. You need to have the codes read on the transmission computer.
