Question about 2003 Kia Rio

2003 kia rio car die

Immediately after it happened it did crank , as if turning on normally, although it sounded different from a normal crank. After about 10 more times trying to crank it just makes a thump sound now as if something is locked up.

my kia rio stopped moving and died on the side of the highway - they told me it would be about $1700 to fix the head and pistons and when all was said and done it cost me $6100 to have it fixed but it still leaks oil or burns oil as I can not find leak marks on the ground.....any ideas on how to fix this as the Canadian Tire I took it too will not stand behind the work they did.

    Thank you,

Sounds like a timing belt issue. Pull the spark plugs and check for damage. This engine is an interference engine which means there probably will be head and piston damage. A used engine will be about $1400 or so. If you can do the work the wrecking yards will be the best place to find a replacement head and pistons. Obviously you want to buy new gaskets.

Hi, my battery is in the process of dying,(cranking very slow), the car only has 25,000 miles, is that normal?, its a 2009 rio

well yes it could be normal, take it to the dealer and ask them to do starting and charging system test on your vehicle and to test battery, they should do this under warranty, sometimes they just get bad batteries or there could be something going on

Kia Rio overheating although everything seems ok

Possible early signs of a water pump problem. A failing waterpump will circulate coolent when the RPMS are high but when you slow down, so does the waterpump, thereby causing overheating.
