That may besomthing that I may still need to do, although I I ended up calling around and talked;someone at a Tires Inc. which told me to try spraying a little WD-40 in the ignition key hole, put the key in and slighly tap it with a hammer as I turn the key.

    This fixed the problem

You need to call a locksmith to come to your home. They will replace one or more of the tumblers/cylinders inside the ignition key area. The EXACT same thing happened to me. The Chrysler dealership wanted to charge me over $400 to fix the problem. My wonderful mobile locksmith knew exactly what was srong the nanosecond I mentions the make and model! $49.00 later - FIXED! good luck!

Key won't turn in 2001 chrysler town and country

there was a TSB technical service bulletin on the ignition switch and lock cylinder on chrysler product vans, i believe your model year falls into that. the lock cylinder would lock up and not allow the key to turn. not a particularly easy do-it-yourselfer project, takes a few special tools and must be wary of working around the airbag.

The back door latch does not open the door or unlock it 2001 Chr

Replace the latch mechanism. There is a short in the latch. It happened on both of my vans. The latch costs about 90-100 dollars, if memory serves... 3 bolts, a wire connection, and the manual latch bar. Very easy, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to switch out.

Ignition key will not turn

Thanks to the person with the wd40 suggestion. stuff that little red tube right up there and liberally spray. I just had the panic when I went to drive to the store in my 98 town & country and the key didn't turn. I read lots of varying solutions and was ready to get the emergency locksmith out here to replace the barrel and then I stumbled across that suggestion here. It made so much sense...and it worked. The barrel will probably still need to be replaced at some point, but not urgent.
thanks again!

WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF MY ENGINE KEEPS RUNNING

The ignition lock cylinder has to be what I guess you would call timed, if they get this it wrong then the key will do things like what is happening to you, it is an adjustment that will require they remove and reset the position of the lock cylinder.
BOTTOM LINE, TAKE IT BACK.
