2003 Ford Windstar won't start

Vehicle had odd flickering interior lights since we bought it a year ago, was annoying but nothing big. Now the battery keeps draining (brand new battery) and the van won't start without a jump. It will stay running but if you let it sit for more than an hour it won't start again.

Either your battery has failed or the alternator/ regulator/rectifier has. With the engine running, check the DC voltage at the battery terminals it should be above 13 volts but below 15. If it is outside this range then your alternator or regulator has failed. This is the most likely. If it is in this range then you need a new battery. As you have changed the battery it may need changing again if the rectifier has failed. but hope it is the alternator giving no output.

2003 Ford Windstar lx No Start/Crank with blinking Anti-Theft light! Is this a BCM Issue?

mechanic believes replacing the BCM might be the issue? He believes ?? You bettery find yourself another mechanic. The BCM has nothing to do with it . Hooking up a scan tool an checking for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes is the place to start. Besides that vehicle does not have a BCM .

1998 Ford Windstar Minivan: 1. I sometimes get an extended crank when trying to start engine after I've made a short trip. 2. My interior lights won't go out after I turn the engine off, so I...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.
REPORT TEST RESULTS.

PLEAE RATE, THANKS

All back lights are out no tail, brake, blinkers interior lights everything is out,I have changed the relays checked the rear electronic moduole still nothing .2003 ford winstar

All your lights, with the exception of the interior, run threw the turn signal switch. start here and let me know. The TS switch is easy to replace.
there are 3 or 4 screws to remove on the bottom of the steering column bezel and they pop loose. then there are two screws, most likely torx, that hold the switch.

I have a 02 ford windstar. 3.8L does not start or do anything, Has a brand new Battery about a month ago Checked all fuses and they all have power. When you turn the key to start nothing happens, no...

A few things I can think of are the starting circuit of the ignition switch, the neutral saftey switch, the starter solenoid, a fusible link, and a bad connection.

The door sensor stays on when i open and close the side door on my 1998 ford windstar which causes the interior light to stay on.. what can i do to stop that from happening?

I had the same problem. Cheap way to fix is to remove fuse. Only problem with that is my power windows were on the same fuse so they wouldn't work without the fuse. Alternative was to remove the bulbs from interior lights and leave the fuse in. The door ajar light will remain on but at least your interior lights won't be on running down your battery.

Battery keeps dying on 2001 Ford Windstar.

Check your battery terminals make sure they are clean and corrosion free.
Also check all ...A-L-L courtesy lights in your car. there are some ceiling mounted lights that are passenger operated and may be on... Also check your glove compartment and consoles for lights.
Also check for charger cords... These have indicator lights and sometimes can drain the batt as well.
Also, under the hood, is a gravity activated lamp . Open the hood and make sure that it's going off and staying off as the hood closes...
Let me know if you find anything...

Excessive battery drain when all is switched off

Ford windstar is a very problematic car.

Please disconnect the stereo and see what happens because most of the time that is what drains the power from the battery.
