Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier
The e-brake light problem is causing your headlight issue.
The e-brake switch is supposed to turn the lights off for you if you are parked and don't want them on.
Make sure your e-brake is released all the way, if OK, check the switch at the E-brake, it will have a single tan wire connecting to it. If you disconnect the wire the headlight issue should go away and you will know it is the switch. Make sure you have the key in the off position so the module resets.
Good luck, let me know.
