I have a saab95 2.0t se.2001 reg with only 68000 mile's .and my oil pressure warning light has flashed on then gone of afer 20second's .this has happend about half a dozen time's ,could this be a faulty pressure switch or something more sereouse . and how would i find this out .
First thing replace the oil switch its cheep if this fails i would remove the sump and clean the strainer in the sump as this gets blocked with carbon deposits from the oil and it kills a lot of saab engines if left
If oil & filter done/checked on a regular basis, and no new sounds or noises from engine, I would certainly lean toward new oil pressure switch. Probably does it more often when stopping maybe? If your very nervous about it, have a mechanic hook up his own good oil pressure gauge to engine in order to verify pressure is where it should be.
Whenever
this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light
is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic
diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code
that is stored for the problem(s)
Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.
