2001 alero 2.4 L engine will crank awhile before it will start,it isn't the battery,the fuel pressure regulator had recently been changed,only has this problem when its been sitting 20 minutes or longer

May have small fuel leak or fuel pump sending unit leak down. Or fuel pump psi low.
After 30 minutes try this turn key on. do not try to start wait 10 seconds turn key off then on again 10 seconds then try & start if it starts right away fuel system is losing PSI either back through the fuel pump or a leak in line. If you can find no leaks would suggest replace fuel pump & assembly. Another possible but rare fuel injectors may be leaking fuel over time & dropping PSI needed for start up.

How to start this 2001 Oldsmobile Alero ... to let me know my car still on if i dnt make the payment they turn the car off at the lot and it wont start.
Does it crank over? Do you have dash lights? Is there fuel in the tank? Have you checked to see if you have fuel pressure? Is the check engine light on? SOOOO many possibilities could be causing it to not start
Its probably time for a tune-up, i.e. plugs, plugwires, air filter, oil & oil filter, and fuel filter.
Also, have the fuel pressure checked to verify fuel fliter and pump are okay.
Finally... The age of your vehicle guarantee's a vacuum leak. It may sound silly but the truth is rubber grommets and hose's shrink and dry out over time and the harsh environment under the hood makes it worse. Check all vacuum lines and fittings attached to the intake manifold, valve covers(pcv valve), and be sure to check for a vacuum fitting on top of the intake just behind the throttle body. Does it fit tight in the hole? You can seal loose fittings with a high-temp RTV (Red) silicone sealant/adhesive. Several small leaks add up and your engine, heat/AC, and transmission will be all to glad to tell you about it.

IF STARTER TURNS OVER NO CRANK ENGINE FLOODING DUE TO DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS.
It doesn't have to be the security. a dead battery won't let the car crank either. With a security problem the car will crank but not start. The security can be reset if the battery is charged and up. Turn the key on ( do'nt crank ) the security light will stay on if it needs to be reset. If it remains on leave the key on for 15 minutes around then it will go out. turn the key off and then turn it right back on, the security light will be on again. Leave the key on till the light goes out again, then turn it off then turn it back on , wait again when it goes out turnthe key off then right back on then crank the engine and it should start. With a scanner the code will be security neweds to be reset. Thia is all anyone can do to reset the security and it's what you were charged $450 for. Following directions.
