Question about 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

Can't get tail light cover off

I have a 2005 Chevy Aveo. I need to replace my left rear turn signal. The owners manual makes it seem like it's easy-peasy...just unscrew the 2 screws, remove the cover, and fix the bulb. However, even though i have taken out both screws and fidgeted with it for about an hour i can't get the cover off. All I have gotten is sore fingers and a bad mood. Any advice as to how this thing can come off? I am guessing it is just hung up on something and maybe I am not buff enough to pull it off but I am hoping there is a simple trick.

Remover the two screws and the tail light unit will pull directly out. You will need to place a flat screw drivers on the outside of the assemble and gently pry that side out of the two holders that secure the outside of the taillight. Just two pegs that fit into holes in the body.

I can't tell for sure, but it looks like you might have to pull the right side (one with screws) of the lamp assembly out a bit and then pull it/ slide it toward the center of the car, or up and toward the center.

Hope this helps, let me know!

How can I take off the tail light assembly to replace the bulb for the left tu

Open the trunk. In the left corner where the lamp assembly is, you should see two screw covers that cover the screws holding in the lamp assembly.

Remove these covers to find the screws, and unscrew them to pull the taillamp assembly out of the vehicle body. Disconnect the lamp wiring harness, turn the bulb socket counterclockwise to pull out the socket, revealing the light bulb. Then pull the bulb right out of the socket and replace it with a new bulb.

Replace the socket, turning it clockwise. Replace the taillight assembly. Check that the taillamp assembly tab, located at the bottom of the taillamp assembly, is aligned to the facia bracket before securing the screws.

Screw the taillamp assembly back into the vehicle body and replace the screw covers. Check to make sure the new bulb works properly.

Your owners manual specifies that the rear left turn lamp is a lamp with bulb number 3057K. You should be able to find them at any automotive store or from your dealer. Hope this helps.

How to remove rear tail light on 2005 aveo

Once you open the truck/tailgate you can see the 2 screws that need to be removed (see picture below). Once you remove the screws the whole tail lamp assembly pulls striaght out and just turn the light socket attched to the assembly and you should be able to figure it out from there. Hope this helps.....

2005 Chevy Colorado edit

If you put the tail gate down, there is 2 screw (phillips) that holds the tail light in place. Remove them & you can twist the bulb out. Thats it, put back together in reverse. Hope this helps.

2001 Explorer Sport ,Rear Driver Brake Light and Turn Sig. Broke

Rear lights are double filament bulbs one side for the lights other side for the brake/turn signals so it still may be a bulb. Do u have a test light or volt meter you can check to make sure u have power there when brakes or turn signals are activated. Or just try another bulb.
