Hello you can take a 1/2 in metal drill bit and drill straight through the center seams like a bad idea but does work once you cut the pin off the back it all falls apart then you just turn it to acc. with a screwdriver and install new one

Could be a bad battery or your battery cables could be loose or corroded so there is little power getting to the starter.Check all battery cables at both ends and might even have to take the cables off the battery and clean the connections hook up to the battery.

2003 Ford Mustang won't shift out of park

Could be the brake switch, or the shift lock solenoid.
Both components would need to be tested. And you may be able to shift out of park if you try before you turn the key switch to the on position.

Disconnect battery for at least 2 hours.
Hold negative and positive leads together for 5 minutes.
PUT KEY IN THE IGNITION, but not turned on.
Connect POSITIVE lead.
Connect negative lead in one swift movement.
Wait 15 minutes for chip in ignition switch and chip in the key to be recognised by the ECM.
Start the vehicle.

I have an 89 mustang gt, i am trying to run the relay to put in a push to start button, but think the whole idea is pointless if i have to put the key in the ignition before pressing the button to start...

You need to get a diagram and have several switches to run all you need to run, unless this is a" race track" only car. there are wires for Radio, windows, Ignition system, Start, run, ect. Think of al the things that work only with the key on.

Hi, what you would need to do is check the ignition switch to see if it is passing power to the start wire. If it is, then the wire from the ignition switch to the park/neutral switch is bad. You can trace the wire up to the ignition switch from the park/neutral switch. It's bolted to the side of the column and is not hard to swap out. Cost is only $10.

My brother told me to go onto the Internet to find out how to remove the ignition key on his 1997 Mercury Sable. He didn't say ignition switch just ignition key. Is that the same and how does he go about...

The key is what goes into the switch. So the key is stuck in the switch? try pushing in the key while turning the switch back to get it fully to the off position so you can remove the key.
Or there might be a button lock near the switch you might have to press to remove the key.
Worst case the key and switch are broken and jammed. If that is what happened, or your brother is acutally talking about the switch, to remove and install a new switch youll have to take it to a shop

97 mustang won't come out of park, brake lights coming on and I replaced it anyway can it be the ignition switch or is there a solinoid that releases the cable to the shifter button ? Thanks

Is the steering wheel turned? If so this would cause the shifter to stay in Park and not come out. Turn wheel as far as it will go and turn key on put foot on brake and tire. If not the neutral park swith on trans might be bad.

89 mustang 5.0 starter stuck on

The ignition switch isn't hard to replace. Take the column covers off and you'll have to buy tamper proof torx bits to remove the mounting screws. Just unplug the old switch and plug in the new one. The new switch will have new mounting screws with it. It should only take you 20 minutes to replace it even if you've never done it before. Check the operation of the lock and tumbler as well. It's an easy replacement as well. This one only should take you 5 minutes.
