2002 Impala, headlights work however they blink

The headlights work on both high & low beam, however the dash lights & headlights blink. I can hear the relay switch clicking as well. Any suggestions.

My 2002 Impala has headlights and reverse lights that flash. The battery light also flashes off and on. When the car is on or off it is flashing. While the car is on and the headlights are on it will stop, but as soon as you turn the lights off they flash agian. Seems to be worse with humidity (melting snow) and warm weather- today it started as soon as the car turned on- before you had to drive a while to get it to flash.

This may be the start of a worse problem that the Impala eventually developes. The Body Control Module has a design flaw along with the Passlock anti-theft system. You may get away with just replacing the BCM for now. It needs to be reprogrammed at the dealer and the car will not start if you replace the BCM without reprogramming it. I would also recommend against replacing it with a remanufactured one. Repair cost is going to be around $500 at the dealer.

If the Passlock system is also at fault, add another $500 for a new ignition switch and cylinder. If you haven't experienced random starting problems yet, they are coming soon. When you turn the key, nothing happens. I thought my 2002 Impala may have been immune to these problems that I've heard about constantly, however, at 90,000 miles, it became "possessed". The symptoms started slowly and got worse. Beside the interior lights flashing like strobs in the middle of the night (while the car was not running), the headlights would occasionally click off and on a few times while I was driving at night.

The relay switch you hear clicking is the Battery Rundown Protection relay. I'm suprised your battery hasn't drained to the point where the car will not start in the morning.

I have a 2002 Chevy Impala that has been a complete nightmare. I have had the ignition switch changed and am now on to the BCM. Luckily my boyfriend is a mechanic and is changing the BCM in the parking lot of the Chevy dealership, so I only have to pay for the reprograming.
    No more Chevy's for me!

This is not an answer , but it is an experiment to stop the clicking , lights from flashing .
I pulled the BRDR [ battery rundown relay ] and the flashing went away , but the inside light do not light , but all the instrument lights do and the headlights do not flash .
Still looking for a fix , besides replacing the body computer ?

Left headlights

Check your connections at the wiring harness going to headlights for corrosion, sounds like high resistance somewhere, also make sure your ground wires are secure. It wouldn't be the alternator or the battery would be dead and not start the engine. Also shouldn't be any condensation in your head light assembly's or will cause bulbs to blow prematurely.

NO YOU HAVE TO REPLACE HIGH BEAM LIGHT BULBS WITH HIGH BEAM LIGHT BULBS BECAUSE HIGH BEAM LIGHT BULBS AND LOW BEAM LIGHT BULBS TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF BULBS.WEAR CLEAN LATEX GLOVES HANDLING THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WHICH IS HALOGEN LIGHT BULBS, OIL FROM FINGERS OR HAND WILL CAUSE HALOGEN BULBS TO OVER HEAT BLOW OUT.

No headlights only high beams

Both the low beam bulbs must be defective.
People at Jiffylube change headlight bulbs while you wait, if you are not up to the task.

ok put the ground back were you cut it and remove bezel near head light switch test powers in and out with 12 volt test light on low beam and high beam you may just have a bad head light switch make sure you have headlight power coming out of the swicth for low beams.

2005 Impala headlights. Can I have the low and high beams on at the same time? If I hold the switch just right they are both on and I can see a lot better.

The hi beams when activated will have all headlight on. If you have to hold the swith in to keep them on that means the switch will not click into the locking mode to keep them on for you. Once you pull back the lever you should hear a faint click. That will lock the high beams on. Pull it again and the same click will be heard and that releases the high beams to off

Sounds like you need a bulb, the daytime running lights send power to the high beam wire so they look like low beam lights are on but really they are high beam lights running on low voltage.
