It sounds as if your horn ground wire has come un-grounded. Look under your hood for the wire for your horn and re-ground it. I had that same problem with my Malibu and thats all it took. If it doesnt work then your best bet is to just leave it disconnected and get a bullhorn and just yell at the other drivers when they do something stupid. LOL ;)
Hope that helps!

Horn will not shut off

Hi Stephen:
That could get annoying!
There are 2 possibles that I can thiink of.
1) Horn button contacts stuck.
2) Horn relay contacts stuck

You've probably already pulled the wires off the horn to stop the noise. If you have access to a continuity / voltmeter you should be able to track down where the unwanted activation is coming from.

Need a fuse box diagram for a 2004 mercury sable. Horn stopped working

1) Check for power to horn unit with steering wheel horn switch depressed. If power present, replace horn unit.

2) Check horn switch operation. Repair or replace.

3) Check continuity from driver's horn switch mechanism and horn wiring. If faulty, then trace wiring back to fuse box and relay assembly.

Make sure you haven't skipped any steps before attacking the fuse box issue.

disconnect battery and join the cables together for a while if that doesnt work then disconnect battery and call the breakdown truck to take it to the dealer who has the right diagnostic software to sort the problem out for you .This is not a home repair type job

Horn blows constantly, doesn,t blow the fuse or anything else. can this problem be outside of the horn blowing assy. on the steering wheel? it,s a 2000 galant. problem occurs all the time if the switch is...

  • The horn relay might have welded contacts (stuck in the on position). Pulling the relay should stop the horn.
  • The wiring harness on the steering column might have a broken wire to the horn relay shorting to someplace that applies power to the relay. In this case, turning the steering wheel all the way to one side or the other may stop the horn, and it won't sound when you press the horn button.
  • The horn button in the steering wheel is stuck on or shorted.

I have a 1998 Plymonth Grand Voyager and my horn doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Check your fuse box and see if there is a fuse for the horn. Check it with a continuity tester. If there is no specific fuse for the horn then use the one for the headlights or parking lights.

If all the fuses are good, locate the horn under the hood near the front of the car. Connect cables to the ground of your car and to the ground of your horn, then connect the red cable to the red battery connection and power side of your horn. If the horn makes noise it is good, If not it needs to be replace.

If the horn is good, then it may be wiring or the button on the steering wheel. Follow the wiring and check for continuity using a continuity checker or meter with the battery disconnected. If that is good then it is most likely the button on your steering wheel. It is best to have a tech replace it as the airbag is also in the steering wheel.

Horn came on one day and now wont shut off unless fuse is pulled?

Check the horn relay - it might be stuck. If the horn is OK then the only thing left is the horn button - pull out its wires, if the horn stops then the button is broken if not then its the relay.

Horn not working

Three things to check here... First find the actual horn assembly... generally under or near the front bumper or radiator support... pull off the wire and check for power with someone depressing the horn button... if you have power there then it's your horn assembly... could just be rusted to the point of being frozen... I have fixed these by spraying WD 40 into it and tapping on it... If no power then check the horn relay... either get another one from the junkyard and plug it in or put a temporary jumper wire (12 gauge wire) in the large terminals where the relay goes and try the horn... if it blows it was the relay... if still no horn after these tests then it's the switch under the steering wheel...you might need a puller tool to remove the wheel the most likely problem in that case is a damaged horn ring (transfers juice from the button in the wheel to the horn circuit)... Hope this helps...;-)
