Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

What fluid to use in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee that needs to have the transmission fluid topped off. I asked one person at a dealer and they told me to use Mercon/Dextron III because is is more compatible to the original fluid in the transmission. Another person at the same dealer said I should use ATF+4 because it is backwards compatible. I would appreciate any expert advise.

Thanks,
Bob

How does one add transmission fluid to 1995 jeep grand cherokee laredo?

Look for the dipstick where you check the transmision fluid level. If you need any you pour it down the dipstick hole. Add it in small amounts and check in between additions, its really easy to overfill. Once overfilled a real pain to get it out.

How much transmition fluid do you put in an 1995 jeep grand cherokee when fully drained

Hi,
There is more than one transmission that goes into one of the Jeeps of your year.
Try taking down the Vin# and call a local dealer. They will not only tell you what transmission you have they will also tell you how to deal with the fluid question and - also ask about RECALLS and SERVICE BULLETINS.
Thanks

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission slips in overdrive

sounds like a possible shift solenoid. If it's due for a fluid change, do that and add a container of lucas trans conditioner. Likely you have a drain plug on the pan so if the fluid was recently serviced, just drain a quart out and replace with the additive, then top off.
If the condition does not change within a week, likely you will need better diagnosis from a reputable trans shop.

Transmission fluid for a 95 jeep grand cherokee

Generally it will be in your owners manual, and some or stamped on the actual dip stick, any autoparts store will know the specific kind, and it is generally on the fluid containers also. Hope this helps.
