There is also a starter solenoid on your vehicle that could have stuck in the on positoin.I would locate the relay and remove and see if you still have the problem and let me know.

Dodge durango will not start at all , bought new battery ,looked at all fuses alternator is working.all i can hear is a clicking noise coming from the glove compartment

Replace the starter,it is a low geared starter ,witch has contacts, instead of brushes,if I am correct you can sometimes tap the starter while trying to start, and the starter will turn the engine over, use a hammer,do not slam the starter,it will break the magnets in the stater.

1997 VW Cabrio When ignition is turned to start nothing happens. Selinoid and starter are fine. No elec to triger wire to selinoid. I pulled conector from back of switch and jumped from hot to start and...

if you have power to the solenoid on the starter pull in post but nothing happens thenthe brushes need to be replaced in the starter.the brushes let the solenoid go to grounrnd for the lenght of of time it takes to engage the solenoid pull coil and the switch and relay take over during the hold mode of the starter.usually will find the lead from the solenoid to the brushes has rotted off,or brushes are gone.

1991 mustang 2.l starter staying engaged

what happens if you pull the shift lever into gear to cut off the neutral-park safety switch? This cuts pwer from the key to the starter solenoid. If that fixes it, replace the igniton switch.
