Have a diagram and the belt is on correct

  • stonehardfor Mar 09, 2009

Yes it has a automatic tensioner. Had to buy a special belt tensioner tool to put belt on then it automatically tensions. Didn't have to loosen a bolt to remove belt.

    may need a new tensioner

  • josh1111 Mar 07, 2009

To check belt tension on V-belts, push in on the drive belt about midway between the crankshaft pulley and the driven component. If the belt is less than 39.4 in. (1m) long, it should deflect between 1/16-1/8 inch (2-5mm). For longer belts, it should deflect between 3/8 0.40-5/8 inch (10-15mm).

Why does my 2002 audi a4 quattro blow white smoke from the exhaust and from oil cap?, i replaced the engine head and turbo not long ago and it started out of nowhere

Sounds like a cracked piston ring to me. If you didn't do a re-ring when the head and turbo work was done, you probably should have. Now it may be too late.

I have a 1999 audi a4 quattro 1.8l turbo. timing belt broke and replaced the motor, new timing belt, water pump and thermostat. now it overheats after about 15 minutes. what could the problem be?

An airlock ?? all vw group engines have to be vented after filling with antifreeze/water.....they used to fit a tap on the top heater hose, sadly no longer.so you have to undo the clip and vent it manualy.....

Audi A4 2006 2.0 Turbo Quattro, with 13000 miles. Problem: When warmed up, check engine light comes on and a loud squeal is heard. Tapers off when gas is pressed. Power remains OK. Air control system...

Hi,
the squeal is caused by a belt, not tensioned correctly ,I would check the cambelt tension first and then the serpentine belt,if not obvious you need to take to a Audi trained garage. If you plug in a code reader it will help point you in the right direction by the fault code.

Audi a4 quattro

a rubber one, should be changed at 50-60,000 miles. Audis recomendation is like 90,000 I think but have heard of them going much sooner than that. A preventitive Cam -timing belt job way cheaper than doing it after it breaks and ruins valves and cylinders!
