Question about 1988 Mitsubishi Pickup
Fitted 2nd hand alt lasted two weeks before flat battery.fitted brand new alt lasted two weeks.turn on ignition start engine 14volts at batt for about 1 minute then alt drops out comes back online for about 5 mins then drops out -this is all at tick over.original alt removed because of cracked mounting bolt lug.the two alts after this had different plug for exciter wires - ign switch/12v supply from batt - but no indication on alt as to which wire goes on which connecter.L/S?can you blow regulator if wires wrong way.havent checked out relay in engine bay fuse box 60/100 blow fuse for heavy red from alt to batt ok.batt indicator light comes on at turn of ignition key but upon start doesnt come on or remain on thereafter. any ideas or things to check?
Is your a 12v or 24v some imports are 24v and engine parts are different thanks brian

Need to check voltage at back of alternator, should have no less then13 volt's, if you do alternator is good, this is just a self test for you, with engine off, with test light check for voltage at back of alternator, test light should light up, if it don't look for blown fuse link at starter solenoid on fire wall. most of the time a fuse llink will have a tab on the wire, pull genly on wire, if it feels rubber like, bad fuse link,
