Question about 1999 Dodge Durango

2 Answers

My transmission in a 1999 dodge durango is not shifting right. Between 2nd and 3rd gear it will take to long to shift. The rpm's go way up aroung 4-grand and you have to either give it more gas or let off of the gas to help it shift. What could be causeing this problem?

I'm having the same problem only between 1st and 2nd. I just bought the vehicle yesterday and it was not doing this when I took it for a test drive. It was more frequent the more I drove.

It's your throttle kickdown cable on top of the engine and to the right it needs to be pulled out and adjusted to you find the right spot and then it will shift correctly I do believe this will fix your issues as it did mine, I have the same vehicle, also had the same issues that's how I know.

1999 DODGE DRANGO HAVEING PROBLEM SHIFTING OUT OF LOW GEAR AN SOMETIMES SLOW AOUT SHIFTING OUT OF 2ND TO 3RD IS THIS A COMPUTER PROBLEM

Hello,
There are several things that come to mind that commonly cause the issues you're having.

1. Make sure your transmission fluid level isn't low.
2. If your transmission fluid hasn't been changed in a long time, you could have some deposits
built up in the valve body, or the screening could be partially clogged.
3. You may have a faulty shift solenoid/shift motor.
4. In some cases the speed control module may be faulty.

I hope this helps you.

first buy the transmission fluid shift helper and pour it in the transmission...and if that doesn't work then you need to let a mechanic check the transmission for you...it might be going out...

Dodge Durango Transmission Problem

Code 0753 means Transmission 3-4 shift solenoid or transmission relay circuit problem. The PCM (engine computer) is seeing an incorrect input electrically for the gear or speed it should be seeing. You will need to find a qualified transmission shop to diagnose the problem. Possible causes for the trouble code start with worn/dirty fluid, electrical repairs & transmission overhaul.
