engine temperature sensor ? On a cold start the sensor tells the ECU it's cold so the ECU adds more fuel until the engine is warm.

Motor starts then dies several times when cold

Sounds like the cold start solenoid. It is designed to keep the engine running at a set RPM until it reaches a specific engine temp.

Aireated fuel after cold soak

check for a loose fuel line hose/connection that is allowing the fuel to drain back over time and filling the line with air that is causing a air lock when trying to start

It has been very cold..but i plug the truck in every night, the last three days in the morning my fuel filter light comes on and the truck dies out and wont run right. I added Haws anti gel but it still...

make sure you have at least half a tank when it gets below 20 degrees because when it is cold fuel is more dense and this added density makes the engine work harder when starting also if you havent replace the fuel filter

I have a 96 Jimmy 4.3 vortec engine. When it's cold it sometimes doesn't want to start and seems to be flooding, when you let it sit for an hour or so it will start right up. Once you get it started it...

Sounds like one of two problems, The first would be a sticking throttle plate, you can fix this if you did the things you mentioned above to do so all you need to do is get to the throttle plate and with carburetor cleaner or top engine cleaner you can buy from any GM dealer Use a tooth brush to clean the throttle plate inside and outside and the ring the plate after you get it clean put it t gether and start it and get it warm next pull a hose feeding into the intake and put it in the can of Top engine cleaner and allow the cleaner to be sucked into the engine until it is all in the engine and shut off and let sit for 20 minutes. The start it up and run it till it's running smoothly now run it for the day and let it sit over night, try starting it, if it does you found the problem and fixed it if it does not start then do this push the throttle plate down to the floor and hold and crank over if it starts your set if it still has the gas smell in the morning check the cold start valve and see if gas is running out of it if it is then the cold start valve may have to be replaced. you also need to check the engine one more time and see if the EGR valve is sticking open after it turns off and cools down. Hope this helps thanks for using fix-ya and write back if you need more help.

A few Problems: Starting, Heater & Radio

Problem 1: buy a system heater to keep the engine warm at night.
You can buy them at any autoparts store . You take your pick from the variety.
Place a light 100 Watt Bulb near the battery but not too close to anything else where it might burn anything.

Problem 2. Check your coolant level to see if you have the proper level. Make sure you have 1/2 antifreeze and 1/2 water if you add any coolant /antifreeze and bleed the colant system. By running the car let it cool, then turn the radiator cap or turn the bleed screw provided on some cars near the thermostat outlet. Then adding some more water and coolant etc.The tightening the cap or bleed screw. When radiator is full. Check the radiator and and remove any debris that may be keeping the air out.

Problem 3. Will get fixed because your battery won't die.
