Question about 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

1985 camaro that does not crank

I have a 1985 chevy camaro that cranks but does not start. I have a holley carburator on it & i have checkd for any vacumn leaks. I have also gone all the way down to tearining the timing chain and my car will still not start. The distributor has also been taken on & off along with my Holley carburator and ignition coil and still no luck. Please note that my car does have fuel in but I also have an MSD digital 6 plus with distributor and a HVC2 coil. My spark plug wires are new and i have BOSCH Platinium 2 along with Holley electric fuel pump (blue with fuel pressure regulator)

Stop jumping all over the place!!! 1. check for spark. If none find out why. Check for proper timing. "basiline" timing at about 8 degrees btc. MSD units are nice when they work, but if no spark, pull it out and get an old style hei setup and stick it in there for a while.(hooks up with one hot lead) 2. If spark is working, check bowl levels on carb (I do this by attaching a syphon hose to fuel inlet and opening port on side of each bowl, adjusting level so fuel does not spill out and is just below level of hole. You checked the chain...is it in "straight up"? (cam mark down, crank mark up)
Fuel pressure should not be above 7.5 lbs. in fact, for start up testing I'd lower it a bit to about 5psi. (use a gauge) That way you won't be blowing needle valve off the seat. Unless you have the valves adjusted too tight, there is no reason for it not to start!!!
Good luck!

Thanks for the pair of green fig newtons (that's what they look like!!!)
I built chevy racemobile engines for a long time.(thats why "thundergod") You may think that some of the questions I ask are pretty dumb, but I'm not there to see or hear what's going on there. Here are some more dumb questions: Are you getting any spark at all? If so, is the engine backfiring through either intake or exhaust? Have you checked engine compression? Are the plugs wet or dry after cranking for a while? Was this a total rebuild or did you just add stuff to the top end of the engine?
How did the engine run before you did this stuff? Stick with this and we will light your fire!!

Where is the crank position sensor on my 1995 chevy camaro 3.4L

You didn't state which one you were looking for, so here's location of both. The 3X (low resolution) crank sensor is on right side of cylinder block forward of starter solenoid----The 24X (high resolution) crank sensor is at crankshaft pulley.

My 86 chevy k5 blazer with carburated engine will crank but not start

As with any no-start situation, you would need to know if the plugs are getting spark and if the carb is spraying fuel into the intake.

My !978 chevy pickup has new distributor and carburator. I can hear it firng but it won't start

gyver here , twenty year wrencher.. sounds like either you got the timing out on the distributor , or the timing on the crank and cam are off. if you know the timing marks were set cam at twelve crank at six the dist is out. common for guys to set cam and crank n marks one above the other but then you must rotate engine 360 degree before you set dist back into hole. pull dist up rotate 180 degree .let me know

My camaro has trouble turning over to start after it's cranks. it will start pulling to start but it will cut off. i used engine cleaner it showed progress but still wont start

You need to check your spark plugs. Your car is not starting because the gas is not igniting. I would recommend replacing them altogether. Your vehical is getting pretty old, this wouldn't be uncommon. I hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!
