This is not a nice job whichever way you tackle it......
You have a couple of options -- First try having a real good look with a torch through the front grille and see if you can locate the mechanism in sight -- you need to be armed with a good long strong screwdriver (ideally or similar) -- and then once you can see the mechanism -- try and see the end of the cable where it locates in the bonnet lock - this is usually identified as a gray/silver solder nipple - and what you need to do is get your tool on there and push or pull the lever (at the point of the solder nipple) -- basically you are trying to release the latch with your tool manually - but in the same way as your bonnet cable would pull the latch....
If you cannot get access that way - then you need to go under the front of the car -and look up the front of the car to the area of the bonnet lock again -- you really need long thin arms for this -- or a good long grabbing tool - you want to locate the cable same as before -- if you can locate the actual cable - you need to get a hold of it - and firmly pull it or yank it in the normal direction of pull - and that will release the bonnet too.
If you cannot get access this way - then its working at removing the grille - one way or the other ( sometimes means a new grille after its been destroyed!) as that is the only other way in!
Inside the car where you broke the handle off the hood release you will have to look under the handle or behind the dash to find the cable that it was attached to. IF you find the cable you can grab it with a pair of pliers and pull it to release the hood. It works just like bicycle brakes if you know what i'm saying. Very simple. You shouldn't have any issues finding it. THanks.
may can take grill out to get latch or go under it get some thing to pull latch their no other way . maybe can pull cable but where did it break at inside car or at latch if can get to cable w/visegrips pull it
The best way to gain access is to remove the grille. Look in the holes of the grille and you'll see screws that hold the grille in place. Unscrew these and pull the grille out, then you can gain access to the bottom side of the hood latch with a screw driver to pop it open. When replacing the release cable, be sure to grease the wear points at the latch and where the cable connects.
