1995 nissan maxima alternator replacement

1995-98 Models
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove the splash guard on the right side of the vehicle.
  3. Loosen the alternator belt idler pulley.
  4. Slip the drive belt off the alternator pulley.
  5. Remove the four air conditioning compressor mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the radiator fan and fan shroud.
  7. Move the air conditioning compressor forward.
  8. Disconnect the alternator harness connector.
  9. Remove the alternator mounting bolts, and lower the alternator from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Hold the alternator in place and install the mounting bolts.
  2. Plug in the alternator harness connector.
  3. Move the air conditioning compressor back into location.
  4. Install the radiator cooling fan and shroud.
  5. Install the air conditioning compressor mounting bolts.
  6. Place the drive belt on the alternator pulley.
  7. Tighten the drive belt to the proper tension with the idler pulley.
  8. Install the splash guard.
  9. Connect the negative battery terminal.
Proper belt tension is important. A belt that is too tight may cause alternator bearing failure; one that is too loose will cause a gradual battery discharge and/or belt slippage, resulting in belt breakage from overheating.

2005 Nissan Altima 2.5s 4 cylinder. 1) When stopped in Drive and the air conditioning on - the engine rattles. 2) When stopped in neutral and the air conditioning on - no rattle. 3) When stopped in drive...

no it could be air condition clutch that engage/disengage the air condition compressor and disengage it through the pulley or could be the pulley bearings one of them . also check the solenoid that controls that clutch .
have a good luck sir .

My nissan n15 air con pully is noisy after taken off drive belt and spun it ,what can be done to remedy it

there will be 2 bearings, one is replaceble in the front pulley the other will need the a/c compressor to be pulled down to be replaced. just undo the centre nut, you'll have to remove the front pulley and press the old bearing out, match it up and replace it. refit it and see how you go other wise, you could be up for a new compressor.

Grinding noise coming from one of the pullies (bottom one).its a 93 cadillac 4.9 engine.

Good morning, If the noise is coming from the pulley closest to the radiator the it is the air conditioning compressor. You have a couple of repair options: If the noise comes all the time, a/c off then you have a failed pulley bearing to repair you can just replace the bearing or replace the pulley and bearing as a unit and the clutch, you can replace the whole compressor. you can get a smaller belt and by-pass the a/c compressor. getting a belt will be a hit and miss attempt because I can't tell you the length belt you need. You might try putting a small rope around the pulleys the same way the regular belt is routed then take it to a parts store to have them attempt to match it up (take old belt with you so they can see the width. This needs to be fixed because the noisy pulley will lock up, break the belt, when that occurs you won't have any power steering, the water pump will quit and the engine will over temp (run hot). Hope this helps

Is there anyway to bypass the a/c pulley when putting on a serpentine belt on a 1997 pontiac bonneville SE. Compressor is locked up and want to just bypass it.

I don't know of a practical way to get around this problem. If just the bearing inside of the clutch pulley is bad [which would first be noisy then might lock up and burn off the belt] then you may be able to have just that bearing replaced so your belt will work again. I've replaced several of these bearings over the years...they are pressed in place and do require a bit of skill and a good press to replace. Sometimes though the bearing will go bad and damaged the nose of the compressor badly enough that the only fix is to replace the compressor. The only real way to tell is to examine it all once the clutch pulley has been removed from the compressor. Hope this helps a bit!

04 navara pickup noisy rear axle does not seem to be wheel bearings 130000 miles

Crush bearing may be worn, remove old oil try putting in synthetic oil in as a replacement se if that helps otherwise the side bearings and pinion shaft sealand crush bearing will have to be replaced and re torked, do soon as this could cost you big money if yo break a gear.

Air condition problem

When you say "noisy", is it a metallic grinding noise? Or, did someone overcharge the system. If the compressor IS internally noisy, replacing it is only half of the job. Anytime that comperssors fail, metallic particles get in the system, from the grinding of the compressor vanes or bearings...and need to be removed. Most of the time, they are trapped in a device called the "receiver-dryer", located next to the condenser in the front of the car. So, replace the compressor, replace the receiver-dryer, and evacuate the system. Hold a vacuum for 30 minutes, and then recharge. Not replacing the receiver dryer will damage the new compressor.
