Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

1 Answer

2004 silverado had the battery run down from being parked for about 2 weeks. I charged the battery...but the truck starts for a second and stalls out repeatedly. It was running great when I parked it. Seems like something happened from letting the battery deplete. Any Ideas???

If alternator is not charging then the car is running on battery and extra loads will draw everything down. Check alt.

I replaced my battery in my 2004 GMC Envoy last week now the car cuts off/stalls whenever I come to a complete stop. It fires right back up once I put it back in park and start it again.

The throttle body needs to be cleaned, When you disconnected the battery, the computer reset to factory defaults and now with a dirty throttle body, it will run poorly at idle. Make sure both the front side and rear side of the throttle body are cleaned thoroughly.

Just a hunch, is the SECURITY light illuminated somewhere on the dash when it wont start? If so, you have the anti theft shutting down your fuel injectors. Heres a link with info and solutions if this ends up being your problem. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

I have a 2007 silverado i have had this problem 2 times now. I have no crank and no start, but i have power everywhere else. They replaced the battery the first time last week.

Could be a combination of things, they put in new battery but did they test charging system (Alternator) Your alternator might not be charging properly and you've been running on battery power. You've probably run the battery down so low that there's not enough power to run ignition but enough for lights etc. Jump start and bring to repair shop that you frequent and have them test your charging system.

If the battery was dead after it stalled, then the alternator is not charging, check the alternator anyway,it needs to be charging for the engine to stay running.

My silverado 3500 01 battery keeps going

Ck the charge rate at the battery posts. The proper range is 23.6 to 14.2v , The higher the voltage the llower the amps. Ie; at 13v Alternator is about 10% under capacity. @ 12v it is charging at max capacity. @ 15 v isthe alt is not charging but frying your battery. 9amps is ok if battery is fairly charged but at start up it should sit on 13-13.6 volts. for about 15 seconds the start climbing to less charge towards 14.2.
