My battery in my 1994 Safari Van keeps draining after being charged. What could be the cause of this? It's a brand new battery.

Either a shorting wire off a wiring loom somewhere in the electrics or a boot light or internal light not switching off.did you recently fit a new item to the vehicle as this could be part of the problem.

1990 Toyota Camry DX 4 cylinder''Swollen battery''short some where?

Your alternater is over charging the battery. Either the alternater is faulty , or just the regulator. Also, check the positive cable from the battery to the starter, and make sure it's not shorting out somewhere.

Check charging system light keeps coming and dont know why

Have you checked your belts and charging system? The light is telling you that you have a problem in the charging system. This could be the belt, battery, loose wire or alternator. You need to to address this or you may get stranded somewhere with a car that won't run. Once you perform these checks you'll find the problem and can repair as needed.

Alternator not charging the battery

Take the car to an autoparts store and have the alternator tested. While the output is being checked, move the wires around and see if it affects the output. I had a wire shorting out in the plug once that was intermittently causing the alternator to not charge. I ended up soldering the wire into the plug and it stopped the problem. If the alternator is not charging the battery, it is most likely either a short in the wiring somewhere or a faulty voltage regulator. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Battery Discharge

The alternator is okay but is short circuiting on the battery.

trouble shoot by using a friend's battery and you will experience the same thing.

This simply means the alternator has dropped its charging power.

Replace the alternator.

Dont forget to rate this.

Possible short, altinator not charging battery

I would say that this may well be a coincidence. The alternator had its own circuitry in it to regulate its output wich, i suspect, is the problem...the good news is that many ap stores can test an alternator on site so you know for sure before spending your money; better yet bring it to a real expert- and auto electric shop- the rebuild alternators and electric motors on site as well as test and diagnose the alternator for you.
