Well dont experiment I hate to say it always causes something else to happen. When you have a door lock issue its the lock actuator that needs to be replaced if you need some more info go to collisionrepairadvice.com
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

The auto door lock feature is a programmed feature that can be turn on or off. to enable or disable this feature you will need to follow these directions. 1. Close all door and place the key in the ignition switch. 2. cycle the ignition switch ON/OFF four times ending in the OFF position. (do not start the engine.) 3. Within 10 seconds of the final cycle, press the interior driver's door lock switch to the Lock position. 4. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming. You can turn this feature back off by performing the above procedures again.
deactivate the alsrm with remote or lock then unlock door with the key try another door if drivers door wont disarm it. that is for factory alrm
after market alarm needs remote or some button somewere under dash
best way to fix an after market alarm is to remove it
Ok get in car. close all doors. Put key in ignition cycle key four times on & off. DO NOT START. Within 10 seconds of the final cycle, press the drivers door lock switch to the lock position. If you here a single chime you have reprogrammed the power door locks. This can be done of throught the EVIC system if the van has the system. If problem does not go away lock motor is bad
my manual says, 1 close doors, 2 place key in ignition & turn key between off and on position for a total of 4 times ending in the off position (do not start engine), 3 press driver side door lock button to lock doors, 4 you will hear chime when programming is completed
It won't let you. I have a 2005, and a 1997 and my parents have a 2000 and you can't. You can however turn off the auto-lock when your car is in motion. You turn the car to the "ON" postion with out starting it, and then to the "OFF" position 4 times. Then press the lock button. It will chime. Then that should be deactivated.
