If the battery is good, but nothing happens when you turn the key (perhaps a click..), it is the starter solenoid and/or the starter motor.
The starter solenoid gets stuck and worn-out. It can be rebuilt or replaced.
If this is the problem, once when the engine is not starting, try tapping the engine (or the starter motor if you can identify where it is) with a hammer or something hard.. it might work then -and the problem is definitely the solenoid.

Why did engine running, won't restart.

lots and lots of reasons, guessing. over 50 (bad engine?)
but does it crank?, no car starts unless it's cranked or
like my car, push started or gravity started (a 6sp m/t)
if engine fails to start , and cranks robustly (fast starter motor)
then
1: never tuned up, running 10 year old spark parts.
2: blow fuse. check fuses.
3:; lost spark, check spark.
4: flooding or loss of fueling. to unflood any engine, crank at wideopen throttle (oper, guide tells you that)
5: timing belt not changed at 60,000 miles it will fail, and will not start
or start have like 1/4 power.
6: lost compression in or more cylinders.?

or
get it serviced? if all that is too much work? or confusing.

Hi I have Lexus Rx300 year 1999. The problem is, some time when I start the engine, I noticed that the RPM meter shows low and the car little viberate and engine stops. But if in-between I push...

REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES AND CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS. SOUND LIKE FUEL INJECTORS LEAKING FOULING OUT SPARK PLUGS WHEN YOU TURN OFF ENGINE.WHEN YOU START CAR UP NEXT MORNING CYLINDERS MISFIRING SO BAD FROM FOUL PLUGS ENOUGH SHAKE ENGINE.WHEN ENGINE RUNS FOR FEW MINUTES THAT WILL BURN OFF FOUL SPARK PLUGS UNTIL ENGINE RUN NORMAL.

1995 Ford Thunderbird - Engine won't turn off

Pull the 60amp fuse in the fuse box near the battery. You'll find it. That will shut off the motor. Remove the neg ground on the battery to shut off the rest of the car and save the battery,
It sounds like the ignition lock actuator. It goes from the ignition key switch to the Yellowish ignition switch box, under the dash on the column. It pushes the ignition switch to start and pulls it back to stop and lock. If you remove the 2 hex screws on the yellowish ignition switch and let it hang down, you will see a rod sticking out of the top. It's a slider. Push the slider toward the engine and it starts. Toward the drivers seat, and it shuts off the car. Check this out.

Car engine fails to start at times.

If the starter turns, i would presume that there is a problem with your ignition switch.

My van won't start sometimes

I am not convinced that the problem is the security system. When you push the little button under the dash, do you have to hold the button down while you crank or is it a case of push and release. This tells me how the security system is activated. Get back with me on these questions

If it was mine I would disable the security system for a period of time and see if there are any instances
where the vehicle does not start.

07 SPRINTER TRASMISSION PROBLEM (07 TRANS. W/ 08 ENGINE) PLEASE HELP!!!

they shift interlock is not releasing...possible cause a blown fuse or bad brake light switch.if you need to get it out of park to get to a dealer ther is a manual release..look for a small opening around the shifter...once you start the vehicle push a phillip screw driver through the opening and push the release...pull into gear.....do not use this release constantly it can cause computer problems
