I am able to open the window without a problem, but when I attempt to close it there is no catch. Eventually through trial and error I can push and force it just right to make the connection. Is this a common problem and if so is there a way I can fix it without needing dealer involvement?

Re: Rear Window Will Not Close
Turned out that the relay for the dashboard release switch was binding and holding the latch open so that it couldn't close. I just disconnected the cable from the relay to the latch. Can't use the dash mounted release, but the window now closes.

dis-connect your battery for 30 seconds to do a switch reset on your window, when you reconnect the batt your window will go down, open and close rear door to check lock functions ok first. close rear door and using key or switch inside car close window fully with out stopping, this should reset the window.
You have to reset the windows and sunroof after you change the battery. For windows open the driver half way and close the window up and hold the up switch for few seconds. If that don't work open the rear window from rear switch and that should work.
For moon roof open the moon roof and keep the hold the open button pressed for 10 seconds. Then close the moon roof and hold the close button pressed for 10 seconds
you can close it by pulling the door panel and removing the electric motor that raises the window, then lift the window closed and reinstall the motor, but the motor is most likely defective so if u go to all that hassle just replace the motor.
It could be that the catch is closed so the wire loop that is meant to fit into it cannot. What you need to do is to get a philips head screwdriver and put it in the catch with a slight outward pressure and click the open button for the window. It should then release open so you now can close the window.
use small box wrench and remove the catch attached to the window. insert 2 washers over each of the 2 connecting bolts ..4 washers required min 2 per side. re attach window catch. This should move the catch forward ehough to depress the locking mechanism.... it worked perfect on my 02 Liberty.
