I took my car to the dealership due to the brakes sqeaking and consistently getting louder. They told me this was normal for this car due to a new type of coating on pads. Now my brake light has begun to go on intermittently. Also I now here a ping noise around the front left wheel. Please any ideas? I am supposed to take an 800 mile trip very soon.
You brakes are no longer any good.
Most times, the squeaking and rubbing noises are caused by brake pad wear, but you say the brakes are fine. Otherwise, if by constant rotation speed you mean the squeaking/rubbing noise is present even when the brakes are not applied, you might want to get the wheel bearing inspected.
also check out -------- The most common would be a loose P/S belt. If it is tight but is still the source, it could be a restriction in the P/S system causing high pressure and resistance in the pump.

The squeaking only happens when brakes are applied. I was told by a friend that the ping sound that I hear could be a disconnected pin having to do with the rotor. But he is not a mechanic, but just taking a guess. What is the P/S system?
