Question about 2005 Subaru Legacy

1 Answer

Cold starting problems

I have a 2005 2.5 Subura Liberty which has a problem with the first start. When the engine finally starts there is a loud sound coming from the engine. This noise disappears once the engine has warmed up. I have already send big $$'s trying to find the problem with a few days later the problem reoccuring. Can you please advise whether you have seen this problem before as local Subura dealer is unhelp unless I pay A$1100 for the engine to be opened and then more $$'s to have it fixed.
I am running out of money and no one can give me a solution ??

Try some of the simpler things that are not so expencive to fix... battery voltage, if low could reduce fuel pressure when car hasnt been runn for a while causeing hard start... check for intake leaks etc....

Jeep liberty 2005 3.7 v6. Doesn't want to start,

This sounds like a fuel pump problem, if the pump is bad and it does not give the engine the right pressure the car wont run and if it does it will not have power and can give an o2 code due to lean mixture, you may have a bad o2 but this would not make car not start, the o2 does not play a role in the engine until engine temp is up and in closed loop. have the fuel pressure tested i would bet is is low or no pressure, check the fuel pump and the relay .start there

Jeep liberty 2005 crd start and engine goes off after four seconds

To start with, most models have a fuel pump relay that gives the pump voltage until the computer sees that the engine is running.
Sounds like the computer is not knowing the engine is running, so there is no power to the pump after it starts.
It could also be something with the anti-theft system.
Is the check engine light on ?

You either have a battery that has come to its final end or you have a bad connection at the battery posts or chassis ground. I'm not sure of the age of your current battery, but 5 yrs is about the most you can expect (with a quality battery of course). You can have the battery load tested at an auto supply chain for noting if they offer this service. Just a thought.

While trying to start my 2002 jeep liberty limited edition 2wd 3.7l engine I only get a click, after any number of clicks it finally starts.

It sounds like you need a new battery. If it's a 2002, then it's probably on it's second battery already and due for a new one. The clicking is the starter solenoid trying to engage the starter with the flywheel. If the battery can't supply enough "cold cranking amps" or "power", then it makes that clicking noise.

I also have a 2005 jeep liberty with the same light on top left corner. horse-shoe with and exclamation in it.

That is the tire pressure sensor light. It will come on if one or more of the tires are over-inflated or under-inflated. It will also come on if there is a signal problem with one or more of the sensors.
