Question about 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis

1 Answer

My wife went to walmart and the blower motor was working, when she came out it would not work. I have checked the fusses under the dash and the one under the hood and the blower relay. I have tried the switch and it sounds like it is trying to turn on. The blower motor has been working great untill now.

Tap on the blower motor with a small hammer with the switch on. If it starts to work again, you need a new motor. If not, you most likely need a blower motor resistor.

The resistor is built into your auto temp control then. It is possibly behind your glove box. The easiest way would be to go to a parts store and see what they list as a blower motor resistor for your car.

Blower Motor not working - Can not get defrost/heat

Sounds like the resistor has went bad, or your blower motor is bad. First check the fuse, then does the blower only run on low or high or not at all? If it runs on low or high your resister is bad. Located under the dash on the passenger side you'll see a small rectangle piece of plastic with a plug. It takes a 5.5mm socket to remove the 2 screws. Otherwise if it does not work at all and the fuse is fine your blower motor is probably no good. I can't remember where that is located at but I think that too is under the dash on the passenger side

Hi, my air conditioner was working fine, blowing nice and cold air. I went to the store and when I got back in my car it wasn't blowing any air out hot or cold. Seems like the compressor kicks on, I...

Sounds like your blower motor when out, check voltage at the blower motor connector under the dash passenger side under dash, with key and blower on, if you have voltage blower motor out, also tap on it some time it will turn it on, but if it happens again you will have to replace it.

Blower on the heater/AC not working on 1998 Escort, checked fuse under dash?

Ok, first off, check the fuses under the dash. If they're all good, does the blower work only on high speed? If yes, then you have a bad blower motor resistor, which is located under the hood, near the blower motor itself. If the motor doesnt work at all at any fan speed, make sure the wiring harness that plugs into the motor under the hood is clean and tightly installed. If it still doesnt operate, sometimes tapping on the blower motor housing will kick it on, but if that doesnt work, you may have to replace the blower motor. They are available aftermarket, and arent usually too expensive.

Heater blower/fan not working

The problem is that they have a resistor in between the wiring and the blower motor. it is usually located under the dash near the blower housing. It is a small square type gadget. It is a little hard to get at. But it can be done. If it's not under the dash it is in the wiring on the under the hood. But mostly it's on the cab under the dash.Just replace it.Good luck.
