Question about 1995 Ford Escort
I have an escourt which is really running rough, sounds like it is misssing, when it idles it hunts all the time. I found a pipe off from the charcoal sscrubber and am not sure where it goes, I can hear hear air being sucked in big time and wonder if this missing pipe is the problem. Basically the pipe comes from the righthand side and runs up around the shock housing behind the the engine and on side connects to the air manifold and the other end is well no connected and the pvc piping appears to be angled downwards to go somewhere near the distributor which is around the same area as the air leak, can anyone help?
I'll try, 1st let look at the air being sucked in, the area you are describing sounds like where the plug wires are. The only tube that can leak air (sucking in noise) in this area is the intake tube that goes between the intake manifold and the air filter, if this hose has a big leak it will make that sucking in sound, it will also prevent air from going through the Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF). This will cause the engine to run poorly. Check the intake hose if it is cracked, got a hole in it, then replace it. Hope this helps, let me know.
