SOURCE: cabin filter location mercury mountaineer

There is one for the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer. If you are smellign a "vinegar" odor, mix a solution of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water and pour it down the grid at the base of the windshield. It will take care of the smell.

How do I turn the Idle up on my Mercury Mountaineer

THE IDLE IS CONTROLED BY THE ECM, THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE WILL INCREASE IDLE WHEN UNDER A LOAD, SUCH AS STEERING HARD DIRECTIONAL OR WHEN THE A/C IS TURNED ACTIVATED. THE ECM IS ONLY PROGRAMABLE WITH A TNER LIKE DIABLOSPORT OR OEM, NO OTHER WAY THAT I AM AWARE OF.

Why does my 2005 mountaineer die when I stop or slow?

The stall problem could be a faulty idle air control valve or dirty throttle body. The computer uses the valve to adjust base idle speed depending on the load on the engine.

2000 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L engine. idle speed speeds up and slows down. Idles too fast.

dirty or bad idle air control valve i would at worst the egr valve but most likely the idle air control valve which controls the air and idle from the throttle body try taking it out and cleaning the tip as well as in the throttle body where the control valve goes in if that dosent work replace it and the check engine light does not have to be on for it to be bad.good luck to you.

Mountaineer idles at 1 1/2 when you start it. When you give it gas itwants to range between 2-3k. i tried Mass air flowtp sensor and idle control valve nothing work

Hello. Please check your Coolant Temperature Sensor. It tell the PCM what the engine temperature is so that I can adjust the injectors and Air/fuel mixture. If it can't get an accurate temperature it goes to the default level. When you first start the engine it is cold, and the adjustment is good, but when it gets warmer the air molicules are farther apart, this means when warm, air is thinner. Thinner air getting the same amount of fuel means that the air/fule mixture is going to be "richer." or more gas per fuel. That is why your Mountaineer idles higher, same amount of gas, thinner (less) air.. I hope this helps you understand what happens in this system, and why I believe that this amy be your trouble. 2001 Mercury Mountaineer won't idle. It will run when I've got my foot on the accelerator, but as soon as I take it off, it dies. What's wrong with it?

Sounds like a faulty, IAC valve (idle air control) which controls your idle under load etc. Normally mounted on side of throttle body.Fairly simple for technician to test with ohmmeter to confirm before replacing. If your familiar with ohmmeter, get back to me and I'll guide you through test, otherwise shouldn't cost much for mechanic to test.

Mountaineer will start and run but will not idle

check for a vaccum leak on the PVC hose on the intake if there is no problem there the idle air control valve maybe no good also make sure the EGR valve is not open the check engine light sould be on if that was the problem

2003 Mercury Mountaineer

First Examine the air intake tube( the big black one).there are two silencer chambers on it-one on the side by the elbow and one underneath. I f either one is missing, when the Idle Air Controller (IAC) opens to compensate for the A/C compressor cycling it will make a gurgling/thrumming/roaring sound. if this does not fix it, check around intake/throttle body for loose connections.
