Question about 1996 Chevrolet Camaro

1 Answer

Transmission stops pulling after driven short distance and won't move again until it cools down. It's on a Chevy Camaro Z28. When you crank the car up you can drive about a mile or two and trans quits pulling until it cools and you can drive the same distance before it goes out again.

Beep beep AAMCO. is the car an automatic or manual? could go either way, bad clutches insides the automatic to bands are loose, pump is going bad in the automatic. or if you have a clutch could be clutch is toast or oil leakingon flywheel causing it to slip.. either way i would take to trans shop for diagnostic. sorry cant help more just too many issues that it really could be. let me know if i can help in any way though

well good luck with this, i do agree if you are hearing a whine before it quits then the converter is the best place to start, there and the front pump. you might check the fluid level the next time it stops running on you just as soon as it stops and make sure that it is still full. if it is low then you could try adding some fluid that might make a difference. good luck to you. thank you very much for your rating and if you need anything else at all please dont hesitate to let me know.

I wanna know where is the electric fuel pump relay on my chevy camaro z28 1991. the engine run good when he is clod but stop when he is hot i think is the relay

Sounds like a crank sensor rather than fuel pump. You should check your fuel pressure at the injector rail to get a better idea of the cause.....Mike

Gear Jerking in Camaro z28

first of all you need to fix the motor mounts drive shaft hangers and the lower control arm bushings and if you still have a transmission problem . it is in the valve body in the transmission you need to bring it to a good transmission shopas this will be a major tranny overhaul

Overheating prob in chevy camaro z28 97

Check for obstruction in front of radiator/condenser that would cause loss of airflow through the core.Sometimes these cores get clogged with bugs or debris and airflow is deminished. The reason for overheat with A/C on is that the condenser adds to the heat in front of the radiator and if there is not enough airflow then the engine also runs hot because radiator can not be cooled sufficiently.
hope this helps

Hard start

Hi teabag,

I too, once owned a '95 z28, fun car to drive, anyway HO chevy small blocks w/EFI are notorious for being beasts on a cold start. Try this when you get ready to start the car turn the ignition on but don't start let it set there a few seconds you should hear the fuel pumping waking up. Now instead of holding the key and letting it crank and crank, just hit enough to let the engine fire. Not only will lengthen the life of your starter it will lengthen the life of the fuel pump.
