Question about Chrysler Concorde

2 Answers

For about a week now my fan kicks on automatically when I start my car. Then today when I went to start my car it cranked then shook for about 30 seconds. I was able to drive it but it seem to be running hard. Then about 20 minutes later I went to start my car it started and cut off. This happened three times. On the fourth attempt I held the gas for a few seconds and the car stayed running long enough to make the 10 mile drive home. No lights came on the dash board. However the gauge was halfway between cold and hot. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!

This could be caused by several things first thing that comes to mind would be a sensor, such as the coolant temp sensor which controls per say the choke on your car giving it more gas to crank when it is cold as apposed to when it is at normal operating temperature, second would be the Ecu. Although your coolant temp sensor would have nothing to do with your dash lights you ECU could cause it to malfunction and the same with your fan and air fuel mixture, if you have a code scanner see what codes you pull up if you don't have one take it to a local mechanic any modern mechanic should have in their arsenal of cool little car tools.

Has 2 sensors, one for the gauge and one for the computer. One of them is obviously wrong, so simply replace them both. The computer 'sensor' is located on the water outlet at the front of the engine. The gauge 'sender' is located at the rear of the head on the drivers side. These systems are also know for needing to be 'burped'. Good luck.

Radiator cooling fans stopped working 1998 ford contour 2.5 liter

some of you might be familiar with me as i asked a couple questions about this particular car's transmission last week. its a 1998 ford contour GL. equipped with a 2.0 liter zetec 16 valve 4 cylinder and a 4 speed automatic transmission. i bought the car last week to fix it and sell it. so, today i finished giving it a mild tune up. ive changed the oil and filter, transmission fluid, fuel filter, air filter, added lucas transmission stop slip, and fuel injector cleaner. so, after finishing up the transmission fluid change, i let the car idle for about 10 minutes until it got up to its normal operating temperature. then it started to overheat, then its temperature went back down into the normal range, but yet it was too close to the hot range for comfort. i turned the heater all the way on and it didnt make too much of a dramatic difference. as i looked over the engine compartment, and felt the upper radiator hose to see if the thermostat had opened up fully, i noticed that the electric radiator cooling fans werent on at all. so, im assuming that thats what the problem is. my question for you is: besides checking the fuses, what else is there to look for to see why the car's cooling fans arent kicking on? im still really unfamiliar with fords late model cars. im pretty fed up with this one already. thanks for your input.

I had the thermostat housing replaced and coolant system flushed and now my car is overheating

It sounds like the fan is bad. Cars with a/c usually have two fans, so when you turn on your a/c that fan kicks on cooling the fluid/engine. And even if the fan is working it might not be working at full capacity. know more about diagnostic tools from

Distributor sensor replaced but car started to shake

If the sensor is in the dist, the dist shaft could be worn and slowly damaging the new sensor.
Could also be a new problem.

Here's a wierd cooling fan issue

Thats not too weird as the car would kick on the fans at full speed when it detects a problem with the sensor. Your ECU is not reading the sensor properly and needs to be checked by Ford. I hope this helps you.

Check the ground wires and the battery terminals if they got shook up during the trip. The batteries out there sometimes die on you for some reason. If the lights or the horn is weaker then the usual it might be the battery. Check also the starter relay, the cables and the capacitors

Car overheating

Good chance. The temp sensor in the radiator could not be reading correctly. Or the fan control module is on its way out.
