Question about 2000 GMC Sonoma Extended Cab

Rattle/clunking in the dash

I have a rattle or more like a clunk coming from the dash on the passengers side whenever going over bumps and such. I had the front end checked out to eliminate anything worn as I thought it could be a ball joint. The sound is similar to a strut gone bad, but of course these trucks dont have those. Has anyone ever seen a problem with the passenger airbag rattling or making a clunking sound? If so, how do I get to it to check and see if it is loose?

Resolving a clunking in front end of a ford tarus 2002 a consistant clunking over bumps. sounds like the front end is going to come apart.

Lower control arm bushings and lower ball joints can cause a noise like this. But I have fixed a few that sounded like the front end was falling offf. It turned out to be the air conditioning plenum under the dash. There is a tube that comes loose some how. this tube stretches all the way across the dash. you can see part of it under the drivers side, it disappears in the center. I take a piece of thick foam and wedge it under the tube towards the center column. Most times this gets rid of the noise or most of it. No one wanted to pay to take apart the dash to fix the passenger side.

My car clunks and rattles in the front whenever I go over a bump. What should I do to fix it?

Look for any suspension connection that has a rubber pad, bumper, or bushing which may be damaged or completely missing. If you bounce each front corner of the car, you may be better able to locate the noise source. Make sure that the wheel lug nuts are tight. With each wheel in the air (use a jack stand to supplement the jack you are using for your safety), try to move the wheel in and out top/bottom and each side in and out. Trace out any 'clunking' that you find. Hope this helps!

Clunking noise front passenger when i hit a bump

It's unlikely to be a ball joint on an '05. Make sure the mechanic jacks the car up under the lower control arm then checks radial and axiel (up and down). The sway bar links are bad about making noise.

HI, this noise can be caused by worn shocks, even if the bushings look good, you can remove one of them and check if is hard to constracts ,if not they must be replaced,
