Power stering pump 2008 f150

You will need basic hand tools. First take off the serpentine belt. Unhook the high and low pressure lines, they should be toward the rear of the pump. Remove the four bolts securing it to the engine. Replace the pump and make sure to refill fluid.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its vary hard for me to turn my steringwheel and i put power stering in it and it just leaks out?

If fluid is leaking out, you'll need to find the leak and fix it by repairing or replacing the leaking component.. It could be the reservoir, the pump, the connecting hoses, or the steering rack. You may need to raise the car and get underneath it to find exactly where the fluid is leaking. The pump runs off a belt towards the rear from the engine. It has hoses connecting it up to the reservoir, and down to the steering rack. Check the condition of the hoses along their entire length, and check that the ends are fastened securely. If you are lucky, the leak is coming from a cracked or loose hose, which is very easy to replace. Replacing the pump is not too difficult. It requires loosening and removing the connecting hoses from the pump, then loosening the tensioner/adjustment bolt and taking the pump's drive belt off the pulley, then removing the hinge mounting bolt for the pump. Have a catch pan ready to collect any fluid that drips out. Replacing the steering rack is a major job. You'll find all the details in a service manual.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Car stering wheel is hard to turn left or right

your power steering pump has a cap on it.you have cold mark and hot mark.when car is cold engine not running.when you remove power steering cap it should be on cold mark.if not add until you get to cold mark on cap stick..dont over fill or you blow the seal.now when engine is hot been running.turn off car check.power steering cap should read full hot.mean level is correct.when you first check power steering fluid and it was real real low.you got a leaking high pressure hose.or power steering pump seal is leaking.if all check out good.your problem could be low tire pressure.worn ball joints.and tie rod ends.rack and pinion steering gear binding.

1. Air could still be on your power steering system after you replaced your pump.
2. There could be another reason why your having a hard time turning your steering wheel, have your steering linkages, camber, alignment checked, so as to prevent breaking yor new pump again
thank you for choosing fixya!
