It should be a 40 or 45 torx bit if the allens don't work.

What size allen wrench do I need to remove the front brake calipers

I'm not sure of the size. I have an allen socket made for GM brake calipers!! But i would guess it is a metric size, maybe a 12 mm. Call an auto parts store and they can pull the tool and tell you with a phone call. Good luck.

What size is the allen wrench for taking off the caliper on the rear brakes on a BMW 318i. I have tried both metric and standard.

Hi, even though they appear to be allen heads on the calipers, and they will fit but are a little loose or not at all, they are torx Heads. They look like almost like a star with more points on them. They come in sizes like t-20, t-25, up to t-50. To get the correct size for your caliper, call the dealer parts, and ask. You may have to purchase the right one from them. I saw this happen many times on other autos and trucks, using the allen wrench and rounding out the head. I wish you the best and please be kind when rating me if I have been of help to you.

What size wrench to remove brake calipers

Usually about 9/16. It should be SAE not metric, but if the standard is slightly loose, then you may be best off switching to metric socket.

1983 mercedes 300td wagon, does anyone know the size of the allen wrench to remove the transmission drain plug, I tried all sae sizes, none fit

should either be 17 or 19 mm. everything about this car is metric. please be careful or you WILL spend more time fighting and drilling then enjoying your vehicle. come to think of it it could be 10mm but doubt it.

What size tools do i need to take of front caliper

what kind of car first of all...and I would guess u are gonna need something in metric since most new cars are metric sizes. if metric doesn't seem to fit then try american sizes..and just to make sure in case a ratchet and socket can't do it ..then a box wrench or open end wrench..both metric of course..
