My Accord's shifter is stuck in ''Park'' ; Cruise doesn't work now

My '94 Accord's shifter is stuck in ''Park'', and requires a key pressed down into the shift lock before it will shift out of ''PArk''. The cruise control mysteriously quit working too. Are these problems connected some how?

The brake lights are NOT working, much to my surprise!

I just went out and checked - the brake lights do not work! The brakes work, but the lights don't.

Most likely are. Check to see if your brake switch performs both functions. Does it do the cruise and the brake/park lock.

Honda Accord 1993 EX is stuck on Park. It doesn't budge if I start the car and it doesn't budge if i try to shift to N,P,D4,D3

Use your ignition key and stick it straight down into the slot marked shift lock, next to the shifter. That will allow you to shift it into neutral. Leave it there, remove the key from that slot and start the car. You will then be able to shift into drive, from neutral, and be on your way.

2002 accord key does not come out, it is stuck

There is a recall on 1998-2002 Accords regarding defective ignition key mechanicals. Try jiggling the transmission shifter on park, while trying to extract the key, to make sure the shifter sensor (park) is allowing the key to be retrieved. For what i have read, the recall failure works the other way, it allows the key to be taken out on any gear, engine on or off !!.

94 mercury sable stuck in park

Check your brake lights. If they dont work, the shifter will not come out of park. You should be able to turn key on, move shifter, then start it in neutral. Check fuses and then brake light switch.

Stuck in park, can't get it out

there should be a slot near the shifter, take the ign key and put it in the slot, push down, now the shifter should move. make sure the brake lights work.

When the car is running the shifter will not go into any gear. It is stuck in park. But if I insert the key into the switch on the console and press it down and pull the shifter it will release and go into...

dont go replaing parts, first to check is if your brake lights are working, if not find out why (fuse? brake light switch bad) this fixes 99% of these problems. there is a solenoid under the shifter to "unlock" it but these rarely go bad.

Key is stuck and can not shift out of park (94 S10 Blazer 4X4)

Press shifter up past park to loosen lock. Or try wiggling it. If this doesn't work, which it should, then try lightly tapping around ignition with a ballpeen hammer to loosen up the pins.

Shifter stuck in Park

Next to the shifter (on drivers side) there is a small rubber plug. If you remove the plug and push the end of a key down in the hole, it will relase the shifter. I ended up taking mine in after having the same problem several times and it was pretty inexpensive to fix.
