The lexus es 300 has a button on the shifter. when accidentally pressed, will turn the o/d off. simply press the button on the gear shift.

you have not mentioned the make and model of the vehicle
have the fault codes read and check for HO2S and O2 sensor problems
check for a failed cat converter

Oil leaking from some sort of plug above the oil filter


If the leak is coming directly from above the oil filter it is more than likely the oil pressure switch is leaking. The seal around the Oil pressure switch could have gone bad and now it is leaking.

The oil pressure switch is located right above the the oil filter and above the cooling system cross pipe.
