Question about 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
Front & back power windows suddenly quit working.I checked the fuse. It is O.K. I replaced the circuit breaker and they still won't work.I checked the relay and they still won't work. How do you take a look at the switch's on the door?
I had the same problem. There was a wire broken into where the wires go from the door to the inside of the cab. There is a rubber boot over the wires that you have to take loose to see the wires. I changed fuses, checked switches, and relays but i finally found the problem. I hope this helps. DVPNN

Ok you have 2 fuses and a relay to check. If your car was built before 02/18/02 you will need to check fuse no. 20(7.5 amp) in the interior fuse panel. This feeds the coil side of the window safety relay located in the auxiliary relay box 2 located under the center of instrument cluster just under or near radio. Also fuse 47A (20amp) in the underhod fuse panel, this feeds the switch side of the relay.
If your vehicle was built from 02/18/02 then the difference is instead of fuse 20 in interior fuse panel it will be fuse no. 27(7.5 amp).and the relay will be located in the under-hood fuse panel on this one.
Now on the id sticker in the drivers door jamb it will have your build date but it will only show the month and year there. If it shows any month other than 02/02 you will be ok if it was built in feb then you can call your dealer and have them run oasis report to get the exact build date or post your VIN on here and I will run it for you.

There were some issues with ignition switches in those vehicles. It is easy to change and does not cost but about $30. Remove the column covers, unplug the switch, and depress the 2 white tabs holding it in place. Good Luck

it may if it does it will be a black box that is labeled fuses ,relays . take the cover off , it will have a diagram that is labeled with what they are in the cover. if no then it may be the drivers door window switch

Mine is doing the exact same thing right now, the only temporary fix I have been able to figure out is, turn the car on, put in drive, then in park, then try to put the windows down or up. It is the only way it would let me put my windows up and down for now. Going to get a Chilton's manual soon to see what they say about it.
