Question about 1999 Nissan Sentra
Hi everyone, I have a 99 Nissan Sentra GXE, the trunk will not open when I pull the trunk release on the floor, alhtough the gas release (which is the same lever) works. I can only access trunk with my key, or through the backseat. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
PS I have the Haynes Repair Manual but it doesn't mention the release lever.

SOURCE: trunk leaking
I'm not sure how you know the weatherstrip isn't leaking, here's what i would do.With a trusted helper, get in the trunk and latch it.Have the helper spray the entire trunk area with a garden hose while you watch for any water leaks. That's the best way to check the weatherstrip for leaks, and it is likely that's where the leak is coming from.

when you pulled the trunk down on the firnature it could have set the latch without it being shut look inside where the latch is put your key in the trunk lock and turn it, using you finger or somethin smaller you should be able to pull the latch back out and the trunk should close

There's a switch inside the trunk wear the trunk latches...It's some sort of safety thing. Switch it and it should work! These things always accidentally get switched the position you don't want it!

Hello and thank you for using FixYa!
What year is your SE-R? if is newer that 2001, just go to a Nissan dealer and have a cheap key made for you so you can open your trunk. They can get your key code for you. If the valet key is the only key you have, then you may want to get another key made for your car. Your key may have a chip in it that will have to get programed to your car for it to start. But if you get a cheap key, then it can open doors, but will not start the car.
