94 suburban no power at ignition

On my 94 suburban theres no power at ignition when turning the key,all the headlights and interior lights are fine, but when i went under the truck and crossed the the terminals at the starter,it started fine and has done this a few times before.i wanna say its the starter or corroded terminals but it doesn't make sense that there'd be no power even to the dash

Test the ignition switch or look for a burnt connector to the switch, if the connector is burnt/melted replace the connector and the switch.

1993 Suburban. Why do only the headlights and dome lights work?

So when you turn the key to on, no dash warning lights and gauges turn on? Did you check the fuses with a voltmeter or test light? With key off, some fuses would have power at all times-brake lights, headlights, horn- but with key on, all fuses should show power.

Just off the battery is the Battery Junction Block, where the power is distributed to various circuits through Fusible Links. These connect to battery power with eyelet connectors at the Junction Block-looks like 5 or 6 Links leading off the Block. Even the small wire from the battery to the Block is a Fusible Link, but if your headlights work, this main Link must be okay. One of the Links from the Junction Block would be to the ignition switch. If your ignition switch has power, you may have a bad switch, but you need to check if it has power first. If no power to switch, check the Fusible Links. The diagram I am looking at does not show which one it is, unfortunately.

2003 ford windstar interior lights stay on when key is taken out of ignition but work properly when key is left in after turning off. What would cause this?

there is a dimmer switch to dim the dash lights. when you turn it all the way over it turns the interior lights on it is the same switch as your headlights.

do the interior cab light come on? can you turn the headlights on? Could be a faulty ignition switch, but really need more info.

If you don't have headlights, the battery connections would be the first thing to check. The truck gets power thru the cables going to the starter and ground to the engine and frame.
If you have headlights but nothing else when you turn the key on, it could be the key switch.

I have a 2008 mitsubishi where the dash lights go out and the cars dies but I still have headlights and interior lights.

headlights and other lights are not connected to the engine system. If the dash lights go out and the engine stops there is a fault in the ignition system. A simple check is to remove any objects (keys, pencil tourches stc from the key as they swing with the vehicle they can and do turn the ignition off just a quick check before spending a lot of money

VW Jetta fan, wipers, headlights work until engine starts. Then they do not always function.

I would suspect you have a defective ignition starter switch, this is the main switch the the ignition key cylinder operates and it powers up the while electrical system,. It is under the steering column covers.
