Had same problem.Floats in carby where sticking and flooding second stage.
Cleaned and reset levels.

Check for compression on your cylinders. That would tell you if you have a bad head gasket or a bad head.check your distributer and see if is good, i seen that happend too

There may be more specific solutions along shortly, but my older car had similar problems until I changed the ignition module. The "spark box" as it was nicknamed. My car was a mustang, but it only seemed to act up on hot days, and if I just pulled over and allowed the car to cool for a bit it would go again just fine. I'm not familiar with Nissan trucks specifically, but it's another place to consider. Good luck!

The starter is probably getting weak and needs to be overhauled or replaced. When it's worn enough it won't turn over a warm engine. Maybe get it checked to be sure but a test will likely show it drawing more power than it should. Engine temperature woulden't affect the battery. Hope this helps.
