Check engine light on Chev Colorado

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. The check engine light came on. The problem was a oxygen sensor that we replaces. Now I need to know how to get the check engine light to go off without taking it to a dealer.

Using a code reader you can reset the light. I never recommend disconnecting the battery. Make sure you have all of the underlying problem addressed or the light will come back on.

The only way to turn off the check engine light and not have to go to a dealer is to go to a auto parts store and purchase or borrow a scanner to reset it.

hope this helps
please rate well

Disconnect both cables from your battery, wait 10 minutes and reconnect.  Hope it helps.

Did you have all the codes removed from your trucks computer..you must have them removed via your testing port and do a new test...garage mechanic can do this for you or if you have a OBD2 " on board diagnostic " tester you can follow the instructions on the device...good luck..

Check engine light on 2005 chevy colorado code p1133

This code is for insufficient switching of the oxygen sensor. Make sure you don't have any other codes, misfires, vacuum leaks and/or exhaust leaks as these will affect O2 readings. Here is some more info I found on the web. http://m.engine-light-help.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.engine-light-help.com%2Fgm-trouble-codes.html#3331

check your gas cap. If you fill your gas while the vehicle is running, it will also cause your light to come on. Go to OReilys or Autozone and they will shut it off for free and tell you the problem

I had the same exact problem on my 2004 Colorado (3.5L). Cleaned the MAF sensor (with MAF sensor cleaner) and throttle body/plate - cleared it right up.
