You need to replace the wiper crank arm that is bolted to the wiper motor. Then you need to bend the tab back up that got bent on the wiper motor bracket that the old crank arm bent. The crank arm has to hit this metal tab so the wipers will park down below the window istead of up.

I'm serious, I've fixed lots of these. You can fix it, it is not a difficult fix.

If you are refering to the wiper arm, there is a small plastic cover that needs to be popped off, and there's a nut underneath. Here's a picture:91c959a.jpg

2002 chevy impala...wipers stay in the up position. why do i get a replacement transmission and install?

No what you need to ck first is take the windshield cowl cover off (the plastic cover at the bottom of the windshield) Then ck the wiper mounting bracket you will see a oval looking thing with a spring wraped around it on top of the wiper mtr. On the bottom of the oval is a little lever.ck and make shure that is still there. If it is than ck the big bracket under the crank arm there is a little tab sticking up (towards the left side at the back of the bracket.) that lever on the crank arm needs to hit the tab on the bracket when the wipers are turned off. If the lever is there than bend the tab untill the lever hits the tab. If the lever is missing on the crank arm than the crank arm needs to be repalced.Follow the instructions with the crank arm to the letter.

2002 chevy impala wipers not parking

Court, With the wiper switch off and the ignition switch in the "run" position, disconnect the wiring connector at the wiper motor. With a multimeter or test light, verify you have 12 volts on the yellow wire. Then check to make sure you have a good ground on the black wire.
If both of those check OK, the wiper motor has a logic board under the cover of the wiper motor, it is most likely bad.
Good luck, let me know.

Windshield wiper would not return to origi position

I had the same problem in my LW200. As the other poster indicated a new wiper motor will do the trick. This is an easy fix. Remove the wiper arms, pry up the plastic center cap and remove the nuts holding the arms down then pull them off. A soft prying nudge from underneath will help as they are splined shafts. Raise the hood, put a large deep well socket on over the splined shafts and remove the 2 large nuts holding the trim panel on. Pull up and off the long rubber which runs along the front of the trim panel, watch there is a sharp edge underneath. Now you can gently pull off the trim panel, remembering to lift it over the splined shafts. Mechanism is right there, remove 3 screws and unplug wiring. Take wiper motor off the linkage swap with a new one at advance auto, about 100 bucks, reinstall in reverse order. Note there is a stamping on the linkage telling you where the pivot arm should be for the rest or stopped position and if you ignore that your wipers will be out of whack. While you are in there you may want to change the cabin air filter as well.
