This a quick summery: You have to remove the drive shaft. this you will need a special tool must auto parts store will have or can get it for you. Then support the motor from the top. remove the shifting linkage, remove the starter, remove the speed-o-cable (plug the hole a big cork stopper or a clean rag), remove the ele. connection (the backup switch), remove bracket from the mount on the rear of the transmission and from the transmission, remove all the bolts from the transmission to engine, pull the transmission back you may need to twist it too. Watch it it will be heavy.

2005 volkswagon jetta cooling fan wont turn off

temp switch fail most likely. fail safe keeps fan running so engine will not overheat. temp switch will be screwed into engine block. may be cover by cover, hoses or something else but pretty easy to replace. DO COLD for the sensor is in the collant port of the engine and will leak a little when changing. Good luck hope this helps.

Look in the fuse box for an ECM fuse. If it isn't in the box inside the car look under the hood in that fuse box. Once you locate the ECM fuse, replace it and everything should work as normal once again. Hope that this helps and good luck !

Airconditioner on my 2004 jetta will not kick on

Had the same problem on my 2004 Jetta this summer. First check if it's low on freon If the clutch kicks on and off it needs a charge. Suct
press should be about 40-45psi. If you have the correct charge and the compressor clutch does not click when you turn switch on,the clutch is bad. I found it easier to change the whole compressor than just the clutch which requires special tools. You need to install a new filter drier also before recharging. Before I would spend $400 on a new compr I went to a local pick & pull and got one for $15 with a 30 day warranty. Doing the work myself including Freon, new compr oil, the filter which I got on-line from RockAuto.com
and the used compressor it came to a whopping $90. If you have a repair manual, follow the instructions carefully and do your own repairs you can do this. If not, it's still cheaper buying your own parts and paying someone to do it. You can also google instructions. I'm 81 yrs young and if I can do this anyone can. I hope this helped.

This is not a job that you want to do yourself! If you have to ask for help with this job then you don't need to be doing it in the first place. Take it to a SHOP!!!

Clutch replacement instructions for 1986 VW Jetta

The release bearing goes in the back of the transmission. You'll need to remove the round "VW" cap on the end of the transmission. I would need to see the pilot bushing to know for sure. It could be the starter bushing or the clutch pushrod bushing.

Can't get my volkswagon jetta to start

Yes, it does sound like the starter soleniod. Have someone turn the switch while you tap the starter and solenoid with a hammer.Ssometimes it will make it operate but it still needs replacement. If the starter has not been replaced I would replace it too.

[yes ]is the simple answer, a turbo starved of engine oil pressure even for a short period of time can blow the turbo; fit a new or a good second hand turbo.[hint]when testing a second turbo put your finger inside the turbo and spin it .a good turbo should spin quite easly for 3/4seconds with no noise.hope this helped you.adrian
