Question about 1999 Mercury Cougar
It is located on the right side of the motor. You have to remove the air filter box, and battery to get to it. You have to take it out from the top side. It's a tight fit but can be done without too much problems. I replaced mine twice. You have to work pretty much blind, and by feel. This will save you at least $100.00 in labor.

Jack up car, disconnect battery, remove associated wiring, remove the two bolts holding starter. Reverse procedure.
