Question about 2000 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

Both my flashers and turn signals do not work.

First my flashers went out and would only work if i jiggled the switch. last night my turn signals went. I checked bith sets of fuses in the circut (under hood and interior fuse box) to find that theuy were fine. Before i purchase a flasher box and rip my dash apart i wanted to be sure there werent any other troubleshooting methods to try before shelling out 100 bucks for the flasher unit.

Thank you very much for this quick reply. I purchased a hazard/turn signal flasher from auto zone, as this part I was told is the multi function switch. I thought for a second that it might be the actual signal actuator as the truck now gives a buzz when operating it. I recently saw smoke coming from the dash last night when I inadvertently hit the hazards which tells me there is a high probability of a short. I plan to garage the vehicle until I can fix it later today. Behind the head lamp switch under the dash (remove dash), on the top of the steering column (under hazard switch)? or literally under (look below) the dash?Thank You in advance.

I would say you have a bad multifunction switch. Here is a pic with the test for the switch.

I would also check for pulsing voltage to LB and WH/RD wires at the multifunction switch. These are the 2 feeds from the flasher relay. The flasher relay is located under dash behind the headlamp switch area.

92 caprice classic turn signals not working, but the bulbs are fine. Hazards, brakes, etc all work fine. Any ideas?

Yes, the problem is the turn signal flasher is defective. You can has two flasher relays. One for the turn signals and one for the hazard lights. That is why the hazard lights flash and the turn signals do not. Replace the turn signal flasher relay located on the drivers side of the steering column, mounted behind the instrument cluster in the convenience center. They are both mounted in the same location so turn on the hazard lights and the one that you put your finger on that is not clicking is the turn signal relay.

96 Ford Taurus no turn signals or hazards

Take the turn signal lever and jiggle it, a lot. If they start working, the switch is bad. You can also turn on the hazards and take hold of the button and push it left , right , forward and back and see if they start working. If so, replace the turn signal/ hazard switch.

The turn signal switches are known to go bad, try to use the turn signal switch and jiggle the lever after clicking to the left turn. Replace signal switch assembly.

Turn Signals work intermitently on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup

My turn signals worked fine until last night when I ran my battery down and had to get a jump. I realized right away that my turn signals suddenly didn't work. My theory hasn't been tested, but I am going to unhook my battery cables and reconnect again to see if that does anything. If not, I'll check out the steering wheel and that big square thing by the fuses. Thank you for all the posts and I was so happy to find this web page!
