Question about 1995 Ford F150 Styleside Regular Cab
My truck has problems maintaining power in overdrive. This is most noticable when the cruise control is on. The truck will kick in and out of overdrive, but will not maintain speed and power. What should I look at and how can I fix this? Thanks!
This is usually an engine probelm, not a trans problem. The trans is just responding to the lower power output of the engine.
Do you have a miss or check engine light on? If not, you may have build up on your injectors or on your MAF sensor.
Add Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner to your tank and clean your MAF sensor element carefully with carb cleaner and a toothbrush. The MAF is located in the air intake system and has a wire connector on it.

sounds like a 700r4 tranny thats usually what happens when they decide to quit you loose overdrive and reverse. About 900 to 1000$ to rebuild.

couple things could had appened first the cruise control module or cru may have went out could be a malfuntion in the with some speed sensors or the vaccum lines have gotten to dry rotted to do the job necessary to maintain the speed

SOURCE: Maintainance Check
Our 2006 Corolla has a "Maintenance Required" light in addition to the "Check Engine" one. MR light comes on every 5000 miles telling you to change oil and whatever's in the book. To turn it off,
Set Cluster Display to ODOMETER (not Trip A or Trip B)
Hold Cluster Display button down
Ignition On, Continue to Hold button down
Odometer will change to "----------" then return to Miles Display
Light goes Out

The problem is in the transmission Overdrive gears. You need to have the transmission checked and probably serviced. It may be a simple adjustment or Fluid and Filter change. I do not recommend you all them to use a synthetic replacement however as most of the time I have seen this done the transmission burns within about 6 months.
