Window on driver side falls down and makes a lous noise

My car window slowly falls down while I'm driving...When I stop somewhere, I have to pick it back up with my hands and I have a cardboard piece holding it up for now...I can roll it down which it seems to be off track, when I roll it down the right side of the window goes down and the end of the left side is in the middle of the window....When I try to roll the window up...it makes loud noises like gears grinding...What can be the problem and how much would it cost? The dealership quoted me a price for like $450...ridiculous!! Could it be the motor or regulator?

I have an 04 hyundai elantra. When im driving slow (0-40mph) you can hear a grinding noise coming from the front driver side, but when i speed up on the highway or anything there is no more noise. it

This could be the brake pads dragging or it could be a wheel bearing. You can check one or the other. The wheel bearing is tested by jacking up the car with that wheel off the ground and see if you can rock the wheel side to side or up and down. The way to check the brakes is to take the wheel off and look at the brake pads.

Honda accord window goes up crooked

Do you hear alot of rattling when driving from the window? what about if that window is only rolled down half way?rattling more than any other window? The rubbers that hold the window in place may be worn allowing the window to move around in the space between the door. You should get it looked at by a mechanic before it completely falls into the frame of the door

My pegeot 206 makes a clunking noise when slowly turning the corners with the steering wheel on full lock

Have the same problem mate, they have told me that me drivers side drive shaft has gone, a new one is around £100 pounds, but you could pick up a good second hand one for around £40 at a breakers yard.

My 97 4wd explorer shakes and makes a clunking noise when I get above 50 mph I've replaced both front wheel bearings and did fine for about a month then started shaking and grabing on the driver side only....

It is usually the CV joints in the drive shaft(s) that are worn, and make this noise.
I would look at your CV joint boots, are they dirty and full of grease on the outside. Does the inner wheel well have grease slung onto it ?
Replacing the drive shaft is a difficult repair. I would have a reliable auto repair center give an estimate.
Please let me know what you find.

VW Beetle the drivers side window goes half way up but stops

sounds like you have a bad regulator. this is caused by the cables in the regulator becomming dry and start to bind up and then break causing the window to free fall down.

When im driving my truck i can here a clicking noise coming from the outside of driver's side. It would come off and on, or sometime when i reverse and sometimes depend on how fast the truck is moving....

Sounds like you have a bad CV joint. Roll down your windows and drive the vehicle slowly while turning to the left and right. If you hear clicking coming from your drivers side then your CV joint bearings are worn. Replace the CV arm.

2001 taurus driver side window problems

yes this should work fine but you dont know how many times that window was up and down in the car you got the door from .. it might be just needing a new window regulator . or if you kept your old one if it wasnt damaged you could instal it and see. just an idea.. thanks Jerry

Driver side window not going up or down

It is most likely a wire that became disconnected at the switch, if neither windows work, it is likely a fuse.
