Question about 1998 Ford Contour
Follow the diagram again. Sometimes the belt goes on the inside or the outside of the belt. If you see a pulley that has a smooth surface only then the outside smooth part of the belt goes over it. When you see a pulley that has the ribs in it the belt matches the ribs. If you follow the pulleys you will get the belt on correctly. They can be confusing until you have replaced a few. But, just follow the pulley surfaces and you will get it. Remember match ribs to ribs and smooth to smooth. Good luck.

I think that sometime in your cars life .it was in a accident. And the repair shop used the stickers.that were from the parts they got from the boneyard.Sorry it happens all the time.but now on how to fix this.If it was my own car i would go to a auto parts store and buy the 20.00 dollar manual for your car.but if it was a customers car. i would go to the dealership they would make u a print out for free. If u say please and thankyou. p.s it wouldnt also wouldnt be a bad idea to match up the old one with the new one. I have seen too many techs trying to put on the wrong belt just becouse thats what the parts place sent.
