Question about 1996 Saab 900
I was opening the convertiable top when about half way thru the process the SID display beeped and said to check the trunk lid or close the trunk lid, this stopped the process of dropping the top. I checked the trunk and found it both locked and secured so I flipped the lever again to start the process and it again told me to check the trunk lid, this time I got out and opened and then shut the trunk lid to make sure that it was closed which it was and I then tried it again, and again I recieved the same message. Eventually I had to manually close the top so that I could drive the car home. I was wondering if anybody eles had had this problem, and if so could you tell me how to fix it i.e... is there a trunk lid sensor or button that I need or could check to see if it is not matching up correctly. I need to get this fixed because when you close the top manually you can not secure the back window down all the way because the rear latches are controled electroniclly so I have a inch gap between the rear window and the touneau and the SID keeps beeping and telling me to check my latches every fifteen seconds or so. Any information that you can give would be welcomed, I really do not want to take it to the local SAAB dealership here in Perrysburg, they take forever to attempt to fix any problems and they always overcharge for their **** poor service.
There are a few reasons that this might be happening but first i would check the compartment where the top is store when down. There are sensors that tell the car if the compartment is ready for use and if the compartment is being obstrcuted you would get that code. email me at Monster50s@yahoo.com if this does not work I may be abloe to help you futher.
